翻譯公司進行英文題名翻譯，多是以短語為主要形式，尤以名詞短語最常見，即題名基本上是由1個或幾個名詞加上其前置和(或)后置定語所構(gòu)成的。短語型題名要確定好中心詞，再進行前后的修飾。各個詞的順序都是很重要的，詞序的不當(dāng)就會導(dǎo)致表達的不準(zhǔn)。題名一般不應(yīng)該是陳述句，因為題名主要是起標(biāo)示的作用，而陳述句則容易使題名具有判斷式的語義;而且陳述句不夠精練和醒目，重點也是不易突出的。少數(shù)的情況(評述性、綜述性和駁斥性)下是可以用疑問句來做題名的，疑問句可有探討性語氣易引起讀者興趣。

　　題名不能過長。國外科技期刊一般對題名字?jǐn)?shù)都是有一定的限制的。比如美國醫(yī)學(xué)會規(guī)定題名不超過2行，每行是不超過42個印刷符號和空格;英國數(shù)學(xué)則會要求題名不超過12個詞。總的原則是題名應(yīng)確切、簡練、醒目，在能夠準(zhǔn)確地反映論文特定內(nèi)容的前提下，題名詞數(shù)越少越好。

　　同一篇論文其英文題名與中文題名內(nèi)容上應(yīng)該要一致，但不等于說詞語是要一一對應(yīng)的。在許多情況下，個別非實質(zhì)性的詞是可以省略或是變動的。
